2018 – A wonderful photography year!

Tucked away into my flight seat, I began writing this piece as we flew out of South America towards Africa. It was the first day of the new year. And the end of one of my longest tours – all of 35 days (not to mention another 4 days of flying) spent in Argentina, Chile and Antarctica. Splendour of Ladakh

The high-altitude desert of Ladakh does hold surprises. The Himalayas here wear a barren look, covered with many tiny rocks – the remnants of glaciers that melted earlier in the season. Near the brackish water lake, Tso Kar, one does come across a change in colour in the landscape – green grass that attracts the sparse wildlife of the region. Tibetan Wild Asses or Kiang (Equus kiang), the largest of the Wild Asses, roam this beautiful landscape. These handsome-looking animals are seen in small groups and, sometimes, alone.
