Black-crowned Sparrow-Lark (Eremopterix nigriceps)

Black-crowned Sparrow-Lark is a rare resident of North Western India, found in dry habitats in Rajasthan and Gujarat. The male is distinguished from its more widespread cousin, the Ashy-crowned Sparrow-Lark by the black crown. The females can’t be told apart easily in the field.

This bird was photographed at Tal Chapar Wildlife Sanctuary, Rajasthan on April 05, 2011.
