REWIND 2015 – My favourite photographs

2015 has been a great year for me as a wildlife photographer. Lots of travel. Exciting experiences. New friends. In the process, I made some photographs that I am happy with. Most of my travel was to 3 places – Andaman & Nicobar, Ladakh and Agumbe. No wonder a majority of the images below are from these 3 places.   Waiting 4 years for that shot! Crab Plovers (Dromas ardeola) are the only species in their family (Dromadidae). They are related to waders and their beaks have beem specialized to feed on crabs. These beautiful black-and-white birds migrate to India’s coasts in winters. Juveniles, born during summer, also undertake these migrations along with their parents. Here, a juvenile (the one on the left with the light-greyish plumage) is see resting out a warm winter afternoon with its parent at Modwa beach in the Gulf of Kutch.
